Abstract

Pulse field ablation (PFA) represents cutting edge technique in cardiac electrophysiology designed to treat arrhythmias. Unlike traditional catheter ablation methods that rely on thermal energy to create heart lesions, PFA employs pulsed electric fields to trigger irreversible electroporation, resulting in precise tissue ablation. This comprehensive review explores the mechanisms and clinical uses of PFA, emphasizing its potential benefits over conventional ablation techniques and exploring its limitations. It also examines clinical data on current PFA devices, which offer consistent procedural outcome and lower risk of thermal related complications. These developments have driven rapid advancements of modern PFA catheters, with future innovations likely to further enhance patient care.
